Welcome to South Miami Martial Arts. We are an organization of several martial arts schools in the South Miami area. Our main school is South Miami Taekwondo at 4542 SW 75th Ave, Master Jeff Wade head instructor. We are directly affiliated with Taekwondo Unlimited in Nashville Tennessee, under 6th dan master Katherine Wieczerza. At our school here in Miami, we practice predominately Taekwondo. The Korean word "TaeKwonDo" is loosely translated "The art of enlightenment through practicing martial foot and hand techniques." Literally, Tae means "martial foot technique practice," kwon means "martial hand technique practice" and do means "way of life / life improvement / means of enlightenment." "Tae" and "Kwon" are adjectives of the noun "do." Besides Taekwondo, Master Jeff is also trained in other arts including Aikido, Jiu Jitsu, Tai Chi, Goju Ryu Karate and various weapon styles. He makes sure the curriculum is well rounded in as many martial arts as possible. Although we regularly practice self-defense technique, Master Jeff is a firm believer in the "Martial Arts for Life" philosophy. In martial arts practice, be it for sport, self-defense, or just for fun, there are inherent and priceless lessons of respect, discipline, courtesy and enlightenment one can take home class after class and apply throughout one's life.
